Sonoscape‘s echoendoscope EG-UR5 was recently approved by China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) which made it the first domestic echoendoscope product approved in China.
Following the three major Japanese endoscope manufacturers Olympus, FujiFilm, and Pentax, Sonoscape has become the fourth company in the world to master the key technology of echoendoscope.
EG-UR5 is mainly used for endoscopic observation and diagnosis of the upper gastrointestinal cavities, as well as ultrasound scanning of the upper gastrointestinal wall and surrounding organs. It has great value in the positioning and qualitative diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions in the adrenal glands, esophagus, mediastinum, stomach, duodenum, and pancreaticobiliary system.
Echoendoscope has been clinically used for nearly 40 years, and the Chinese echoendoscope market has long been monopolized by foreign manufacturers such as Olympus, FujiFilm, and Pentax. China hospitals have to import echoendoscope equipment at a high price which makes it difficult for echoendoscope diagnosis and treatment technology to be applied in China on a large scale.
In September 2019, Sonoscape‘s EG-UR5 successfully obtained the European Union’s CE certification, filling the technical gaps in the research and development of domestic endoscopes in this field. EG-UR5 is paired with S60, SonoScape’s premium color doppler diagnostic ultrasound system.
Since entering the field of endoscopy in 2012, Sonoscape has become a pioneer in the field of endoscopy in China, breaking the monopoly of foreign manufacturers such as Olympus in China market.
The early diagnosis rate of gastrointestinal cancer in China is only 10% which is far lower than the level of developed countries, and an important reason for the low early diagnosis rate is the lack of effective examination equipment, according to Dr. Yunliang Chen, general manager of endoscope equipment at Sonoscape.
